Sorobon Beach Resort

When you mix ideal location (walk next door for your gear; windsurf right up to your private beach) with rustic and chic Caribbean charm, you get Sorobon Beach Resort. Sitting directly next door to both windsurf centers on the same stretch of perfect white sand beach, Sorobon Beach Resort offers a collection of 30 cottages, most with an ocean view. You can choose from one or two bedroom set ups and there’s a three bedroom Grand Cas for larger parties.

Guests enjoy beachside cabanas and chairs as well as Courses restaurant and beach bar for relaxing between sessions. Not windsurfing? Take a break and enjoy Sorobon’s wellness programs including yoga, spa treatments, kayak and paddleboarding. Rates for one bedroom chalets start at $215.00 per night during low season, including complimentary continental breakfast.

Lac Baai Resort

A few minutes’ drive from the windsurfing centers lies Lac Baai Resort. With its own small beachfront for relaxing and views of the windsurf action, guests find this location ideal for spending maximum time on Lac Bay. The complex of 10 apartments and restaurant went through a complete renovation in 2015 (it was previously the Kontiki Beach Club) and now boasts all new studio, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments with equipped kitchens.

While the Lac Baai Resort is a decidedly quiet spot (the restaurant and bar is open primarily for lunch), they do provide a take-out order service with meals that can be heated for serving in your apartment after a long day on the water. Rates for a studio start at $110.00 per night (1 person) during low season.

Belmar Oceanfront Apartments

Belmar Oceanfront Apartments

It’s a straight 15 minute drive from Lac Bay back to the western, leeward side of Bonaire. That’s where you’ll find Bonaire Oceanfront Apartments. This deluxe enclave of 22 updated apartments feature one, two and three bedroom floor plans, each with fully equipped kitchens and oceanfront balconies and patios.  Affording incredible views of the ocean, Klein Bonaire and the northern coastline, you’re less than a 10 minute drive to town, dining and activities.

Belmar features an oceanfront pool and terrace with piers and ladders to access their house reef for diving and snorkeling. They have a small dive shop (they’re a sister resort to Buddy Dive) with rental gear, tank exchange and boat trips from their dock. Rates start at $200.00 per night for a one bedroom on their low season package deals.

Bellafonte Luxury Hotel

Just up the street from Belmar lies the boutique oceanfront apartments of Bellafonte Luxury Hotel. This complex of 22 apartments consists of studios with kitchenettes and oceanfront one bedroom and two bedroom Junior, Senior and Grand Suites along with two bedroom Penthouse apartments. The tastefully designed units with modern kitchens and magnificent ocean views draw loyal guests (and even celebrities) looking for privacy and concierge style service.

Bellafonte’s waterfront terrace leads to a long sunning pier with steps into the crystal clear Caribbean and their private reef beyond. Divers will appreciate gear locker and rinse tanks on site and the private gated parking and elevator access to upper floors spoil tired adventurers. Rates start at $150.00 per night for an island view studio in low season.

Windhoek Resort Bonaire

A 2 minute drive from the Belnem area (where Belmar and Bellafonte are located) brings you to Windhoek Resort Bonaire. Opened in fall 2016, this luxury eco resort blends stunning architectural details with island simplicity. With only 6 luxurious one- and two-bedroom villa style apartments (designed by well known Dutch Architect Piet Boon), guests enjoy a private enclave set in tropical gardens with all the necessities you might need including kitchen and large outdoor verandahs. There is an infinity swimming pool surrounded by sunbeds, hammocks and a relaxing lounge area with a bar. The communal area – covered by an impressive ‘palapa’ style roof – is perfect for meeting fellow surfers over an ice cold beer or gin & tonic. Think Indonesia/South Pacific/Caribbean style with laid back Bonaire vibe.

The owners, Roan and Freek, treat their clients as their personal guests and know a little something about surfing themselves. They are the pioneers of Kitesurfing on Bonaire and recently sold their popular school ‘Kiteboarding Bonaire’ to pursue their new dream: Windhoek Resort Bonaire. Bachelor’s beach is just up the street and Kralendijk is less than 10 minutes away. Rates start at $150 per night.
