Bonaire Travel Review – Buddy Dive Resort

(Editor’s Note — Here’s a review from a recent client with some very good scoop on Buddy Dive that we wanted to share with our readers)

Dear Andy,

Just some quick feedback on our fantastic Bonaire honeymoon dive trip and a big THANKS. You requested a 1 bedroom unit for us on the Lion’s Dive side of the resort – and that’s what we got. I think that room #502 is one of the best situated in the complex — ground floor (no lugging stuff up stairs), great location with a patio view of the ocean, just steps away from the Dive Center, Lion’s Den Restaurant and the pool (without actually being poolside and thus providing some privacy). Also, it has A/C units in both the bedroom and living area, though honestly, it was never so hot that we would have truly suffered had there only been a ceiling fan. With all those A/C units going, we wondered just how much of Bonaire’s resources and divers’ money goes toward electricity.

I stayed at Buddy Dive from 12/26/09 to 1/2/10. Their dive operation is excellent, the restaurant service was very poor (I think the owner was on vacation as I never saw him) and the bathroom in our room (104) was very dirty (smelled like urine).
The dive operation is top-notch though and while we will always Dive with Buddy Dive operations, we won’t be staying there until their renovations are complete.

Kathryn — thanks for your post. Did you address these issues with management while at the resort?
