Bonaire Fare Sale Holding Steady

April 15, 2009

Our SABRE search this morning reveals many of the fare sales in effect have been extended for another 10 days to 2 weeks. But we did note that in several key cities, fares have gone up. This coincides with the general global forecast that fares will rise this summer, due to the airlines reduction of capacity.

With the pull out of American Eagle from Bonaire (and that represents over 750 passengers a month), we don’t expect to see the airlines dumping fares at substantial losses. I can tell you, the demand for Bonaire is very strong. Combine that with reduced capacity and the result is bargain fares being unavailable on peak travel days.

Our take is the current fares are at a reasonably good value considering available flight options (and really, with the non-stop options from the U.S., it has never been faster, easier or more reliable). If the old ALM or even Air Jamaica were selling seats at half the cost of current fares on Delta and Continental, history tells me — PAY MORE FOR THE BETTER VALUE.

Here’s a great tip. American is offering its old schedules from Miami to Curacao and return from now until Jun10th. That means you arrive CUR at 1:15 pm and don’t have to leave Curacao until 2:20 pm for you return back to Miami. This means making the many flights between Curacao and Bonaire is a breeze with ample time for connections. American has these flights on sale systemwide and you can connect to the Miami departures and returns from most American gateways. Of course, those in the know use Divi Divi for the 18 minute interisland jump to Bonaire, and we can make those reservations for you when you book your vacation package with BonairePros.
