b....I made a visit to Bonaire in September, and have another trip planned this month. Why not? Fares are on sale. No crowds. And for travel this time of year, you might as well go somewhere in the Caribbean where hurricanes are a remote threat.

....Planning a last minute fall trip to Bonaire is still possible. Be flexible, and some great travel bargains can still be had. For those planning to visit during Winter 2007, this is the time to get choice travel dates and accommodations locked in before it is too late.

Resort Update – Port Bonaire

With the new dive operation in place, continued improvements on everything from apartment interiors to free wireless Internet, and Port Bonaire’s bonairepros.combeautiful waterfront location – it’s no wonder people are talking about this resort.

A recent review on TripAdvisor called Port Bonaire “a wonderful little resort” and revealed the inside tip that being close to the airport is not a turn off (our own ‘sound check’ revealed minimal disturbance in the apartments from flights). As a matter of fact, we’ve enjoyed the proximity. After checking your baggage at the airport, you can relax and hang out at the oceanfront pool terrace until departure time. Irene and Tasmi, as well as the staff at Photo Tours Divers, have this place humming and making guests happy.

Your shore diving is FREE at Port Bonaire on 7 night packages now through November. For a closer look at Port Bonaire, click here. Or for a price quote on a Port Bonaire vacation, click here.

Bonaire Dining Scene

bonairepros.comCactus Blue Bar & Restaurant – This new and much talked about dining option sits on the edge of ‘downtown’ Kralendijk and Bonaire’s surging culinary wave. Don’t go here unless you like terrific food served in a warm, inviting atmosphere with attentive owners that treat you like family. Corrina Wegerer and her husband/chef Hagen and staff serve their contemporary Caribbean cuisine with expert and flavorful preparation. Try the Cajun rubbed Yellowfin Tuna, served flash-seared sashimi style with wasabi mayo and coconut rice. Finish that with Corrina’s Key Lime Pie (who knew she was a pastry chef before her stint as Buddy’s dive operation manager). It’s a fun spot with delightful people and an appealing menu that can satisfy all ages and tastes -- al fresco or in AC comfort. Dinner only. Abraham Blvd #12, Ph. 599-717-4564. Closed Sundays. Full bar and wine selection. Private dining available for groups. Check out their menu at www.cactusbluebonaire.com.

Trying to find cheap flights with American Airlines? It can be difficult, as American allocates only a percentage of their discounted seats on the 64 passenger turboprop into Bonaire from San Juan. And with operation only five times a week, it can be pretty frustrating getting the dates and fare you want. But with American’s daily non-stop service to Curacao from Miami, you can easily fly one or both directions of your trip via this neighboring island. With reasonably priced hops between Bonaire and Curacao on Divi Divi and Dutch Antilles Express, you can put an itinerary together that allows you to use Curacao’s frequency and larger jets to help get you here. We suggest flying into Curacao and flying out of Bonaire when employing this plan. For more Bonaire flight info, click here.
